Fit for a Jubilee

The highly anticipated long weekend to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee has sent us all into a whirlwind of Garden and Street party planning. But how to decorate and style our tables and without making more work for ourselves? Here are some top tips from Pod & Pip to keep things simple!

Bunting always a winner and so easy to add some colour and joy to any area. It doesn’t have to be union jacks or red, white and blue bunting either, just brightly coloured fabric bunting or even there are some wonderful teapot and teacups  bunting designs to hang up as a fun alternative! We used ‘vintage’ style union jack bunting with a deeper red to complement our table scheme.

When laying the table use a classic white tablecloth, keep the plates and bowls all a white or neutral colour as well and add some colour with pretty patterned or coloured napkins, it’s really simple but looks effortlessly stylish.

Another option to keep things simple, is to use white napkins and just tie some brightly coloured ribbon around the napkins, we opted for a deep red ribbon around white linen napkins to add some colour to the Pod & Pip table in the workshop and complement our colour scheme.

Jugs of water, Pimms or lemonade on the table always look stylish garnished with the finishing touches such a mint, lemon, cucumber or fruit.

And finally add some flowers, to keep things super simple, dot a variety of bud vases down the table. We used just one flower stem cut really long per bud vase in deep reds, blues and whites snipped from the garden, adding height and instant colour to the table. It won’t take long and not many flowers are needed.

Enjoy the celebrations and have fun putting together your own Jubilee table!
