Standard Size Hori Hori  - A real go to gardening tool. 28 x 7.5 cm.

Japanese trowel, all-round weeder, bulb-planter extraordinaire, and general subterranean rummager. The carbon steel blade runs right into the handle, so it’s tough and strong. Brilliant for planting bulbs, weeding and all sorts of garden stuff - but whatever you do, don’t take it as carry on luggage and remember: strong as it is, it’s not indestructible. Comes with a tough canvas sheath, or upgrade to the heavy duty Long Holster option for a perfect fit.

Mini Hori Hori - Prefect for wedding in those smaller spaces. 204 x 25 x 15mm

Most of our sharp tools are made from carbon steel - this means they may, through regular use, stain (and eventually rust) and gradually lose their edge. Caring for them involves three things…

1. Correct Use:

  • Japanese steel is hard and sharp, and can be more brittle than some people are used to - it will chip if abused
  • Do not cut wire, metal, stone, plastic or any other hard material (even bamboo fibres and some very hard woods, especially knots and burrs, can damage steel edges)
  • Do not twist or apply uneven pressure
  • Cut diagonally across branches (not straight across) so you cut along the fibres
  • Pay attention to our maximum cut dimensions, and don’t overdo it (shears are not loppers)
  • Use the base of the blades, not the tips, for heavier cuts

2. Keeping Them Clean:

  • Remove leaf resin, rust and gunk with a Crean Mate and water
  • Dry, wipe over with Camellia oil and store in a dry place

Groomsmen present

Purchased this as a gift for my groomsman, he loves it, the ultimate multi-tool for a gardener.

How to measure

Chest  - from the under arm point to the under arm point

Length - Garments neck to the end of the hem

Sleeve  - from the shoulder point to the end of the cuff

Note on our Pod & Pip styles

Shirts  - Our Poppy, Maple and Over Size Riley Shirts are designed to have a loose and oversize fit so there is no need to size up. Size down for a slightly more fitted look. The Classic Riley shirts are a more fitted shirt, take your normal size in this shirt. Do check bust size if sizing down.

Knitwear  - A generous cut so no need to size up unless you would like an oversize look.

Coats/Coatigans  - generous cuts with plenty of room and no need to size up.  Plenty of room for knitwear underneath without sizing up. Size down for a neater fit.

Gilets  - Fitted style so do size up if you would like a bit more roomy fit.

Do get in touch if you would like any help with sizing. sarah@podandpip.co.uk or 07766 775869 to call. The Pod & Pip team are always with a warm welcome in the shop to help you try on and find your best fit as well.
